A forthcoming documentary about Madonna is in the works, with the singer to be played by Julie Garner.
This project is being worked on by Madonna alongside Deadpool & Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy, with Garner set to star in the lead role.
“Yeah, I mean, that’s supposed to still happen”, Garner said when asked on the SmartLess podcast if the series was still going to happen, before going on to add that she's “such a fan of Madonna’s” and “grew up listening” to her.
Speaking about how she was offered the role, Garner added: “It just came about. I knew they were doing a project, making a movie about it, and then I went out to audition".
“I kind of just wanted to see if I could do it, because I wasn’t a trained dancer and I had to learn how to dance and then dance in front of her and convince her that I can dance, basically, and sing. And sing with her!".
To ease her nerves about playing such a big role, Garner explained that she would think: “’OK, what would Madonna do?’ Which is convince you that she deserves, you know, to be in this room, and I owned it. I was kind of like, ‘You can take it or leave it, but if you leave it, if I leave, then that’s on you'”.
Implying that there may not be any immediate news about the project, Garner added: : “I also feel like anything that’s great takes a long time”.
Almost thirty years ago, Madonna called actor Sean Penn the love of her life. Back in May, Penn finally issued his response. Find out what he said here.
