Rihanna’s home in Beverly Hills was reportedly targeted in a shooting on Sunday afternoon, with police confirming a suspect has been taken into custody following the alarming incident.
Authorities say a 30-year-old woman fired multiple shots toward the singer’s property from inside a vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Rihanna was reportedly inside the house at the time but was not injured.
Police responded to reports of gunfire at around 1:21pm in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighbourhood, an exclusive hillside area of Los Angeles known for its celebrity residents. According to law enforcement sources, several rounds were fired at the property, with at least one bullet penetrating a wall of the mansion.
Officers later confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident.
Investigators said the suspect fired multiple rounds from inside her vehicle toward the gates of the property before driving away from the scene. Dispatch audio suggested at least 10 shots were fired from a car parked across the street from the entrance to the home.
Police quickly launched a search for the suspect’s vehicle, described as a white Tesla, which was seen fleeing south on Coldwater Canyon Drive. Officers in a police helicopter later located the car and followed it to a shopping centre car park in Sherman Oaks, where the suspect was arrested roughly 30 minutes after the initial emergency call.
According to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department, officers recovered an assault rifle from the vehicle along with seven spent shell casings.
Investigators also discovered damage at the property itself, including bullet holes in a gate and in an RV parked in the driveway.
It remains unclear what may have prompted the shooting, and authorities have not yet released further details about a possible motive.
The singer is believed to live in the colonial-style mansion with her partner A$AP Rocky and their three young children. The couple share sons RZA, born in May 2022, and Riot, born in August 2023, and recently welcomed a daughter named Rocki, who is just over five months old.
It has not been confirmed whether any other members of the family were inside the house when the shots were fired.
The incident is the latest in a series of troubling security scares involving the superstar’s properties over the years. In 2018, a man broke into Rihanna’s Hollywood Hills home and spent roughly 12 hours inside the property while she was away.
The intruder, later identified as Eduardo Leon, climbed a fence and entered the house before eventually being discovered by the singer’s assistant the following day. Leon later pleaded no contest to stalking charges connected to the incident.
While Rihanna was unharmed in Sunday’s shooting, the case is now under investigation by Los Angeles police, who are expected to examine the suspect’s background and potential connection to the singer as they work to determine why the property was targeted.
