Ronan Keating has taken to social media hours after his ex wife Yvonne Connolly remarried in New York.

Connolly, who was married to Keating for 12 years, announced that she had married the "love of my life", having met cinematographer John Conroy 14 years earlier on the set of Dark Touch, which starred Missy Keating, eldest daughter of Ronan and Yvonne's.

"I married the love of my life today in New York City enveloped by our 9 children", Yvonne wrote. "Tears of joy and happiness have been shed and our true love celebrated. 14 years together and I love you more and more everyday John Conroy".

"You are the most beautiful, kind, funny, intelligent, talented man and I am blessed to now call you my husband. Here’s to Forever my Darling".

Keating and Connolly split up in 2010, after Ronan's affair with Boyzone backing singer, Francine Cornell came to light. The former couple share three children, Jack, Missy and Ali, who joined their mother's wedding, as did John's six children from his previous marriage.

While the couple received plenty of well-wishes and congratulatory messages on social media, Ronan Keating stayed silent on the big day. Instead, the singer shared a photo of himself and his wife Storm enjoying some quality time in Sydney.

"Sydney you rock", Keating wrote.

Prior to this, Ronan Keating has used his social media platform to show support for fellow Irishman, Barry Keoghan, after the actor had previously revealed that he had considered quitting acting over the abuse he has received.

"I'd like to reach out to young Barry Keoghan, one of the finest actors who has come out of Ireland. I just saw a very sad note that Barry doesn't want to be on the screen anymore because of the abuse he is getting on social media", Keating said.

He added: "Barry, you are as good as they get, and it would be a terrible shame not to have you in film and on our screens every month. You are such a talent, you are so brilliant. I am such a big fan of yours".

Keating then had this message for Keoghan: "Please don't listen to the haters, please do not. You are so magnificent. Sending love to you, man". Find out more on this story here.
