Ronan Keating has shown support for Barry Keoghan after he recently revealed that he no longer goes outside, due to the sheer volume of abuse he has received online.
This comes after the Irish actor recently revealed that had quit social media in 2024 following his split from Sabrina Carpenter, before even claiming that his family had even been targeted by social media trolls.
It had got so bad that Keoghan also revealed that he has even considered quitting acting.
In a recent interview, the Saltburn star said that he has started to "shy away" from attending public events.
"I say this being absolutely pure and honest to you," he said. "It’s becoming a problem".
Upon hearing about Keoghan's social media predicament, Ronan Keoghan who is no stranger to public criticism, showed his support for the actor.
"I'd like to reach out to young Barry Keoghan, one of the finest actors who has come out of Ireland. I just saw a very sad note that Barry doesn't want to be on the screen anymore because of the abuse he is getting on social media", Keating said.
He added: "Barry, you are as good as they get, and it would be a terrible shame not to have you in film and on our screens every month. You are such a talent, you are so brilliant. I am such a big fan of yours".
Keating then pleaded with Keoghan: "Please don't listen to the haters, please do not. You are so magnificent. Sending love to you, man".
Keating's comments come as he shows off his GAA skills in his new BBC series, Ronan Keating's Wild Atlantic.
The series, which sees Keating join forces with the BBC, shows him visiting several counties and many places that he had travelled to throughout his childhood. Such counties on the list include Cork, Kerry, Mayo, Sligo, with several family members and famous faces featuring throughout.
Speaking to the BBC about the show, Keating said: "It's felt really special making this series, discovering magical places that have meant so much to me and my family. I was 16 when I left Ireland, and there was so much of the west coast I hadn't seen. Now, I'm coming home, and I can't wait for viewers to share all the laughter and tears along the way".
