Ryan Tubridy's fiancée Clare Kambamettu has been announced as a judge for this year's Rose of Tralee festival.

Kambamettu, a former Rose of Tralee herself, will join the judging panel who are tasked with selecting the next Rose. She represented London at the festival in 2010, and has remained in close contact with the festival, having judged local and regional selection events.

Joining Kambamettu on the judging panel includes RTÉ's Nuala Carey, fashion designer Don O'Neill, and Aisling Murphy of Sponsor Murphy's New Homes.

Thirty international Roses will be evaluated by the judges. These Roses are currently on their Rose Tour, taking in stops in Meath, Limerick and Tralee, ahead of the competition itself, which runs from August 15 to 19, hosted by Dáithí Ó'Sé and Kathryn Thomas.

Clare Kambamettu boasts a BA from the University of Galway, as well as a Master's from King's College London, and a PhD from Galway. She also runs her own psychology clinic in Swords, which specialises in forensic mental health.

Back in June, Tubridy and Kambamettu announced their engagement. More on this here.

News of Kambamettu's participation as a judge at the Rose of Tralee comes just days after her fiancé repaid RTÉ a total sum of €150,000 that he received amid the controversial payment deal made in 2020. More on this story here.
