Sabrina Carpenter is to star in the upcoming 50th anniversary special of The Muppet Show.
This comes as Disney confirm that the beloved show will return for a one off show, more than 40 years after the original series came to an end, having first run from 1976 to 1981, as a generation of children sang along to the theme tune: "It's time to play the music. It's time to light the lights".
The series even featured star guest including Johnny Cash, Sir Elton John, Debbie Harry and John Cleese.
Now, the one off show will stream on Disney+ from February 4, promising fans "music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos" from the original Muppet Theatre.
A teaser clip has shown the green arm of Kermit The Frog turning on the lights of an old studio, before placing down a mug with his name on it.
Please Please Please sing Sabrina Carpenter will also serve as an executive producer for this one off special, alongside Canadian comedian and actor Seth Rogan, who had previously starred in the short lived Muppets No short form series in 2020.
Sabrina Carpenter had previously finished off her 'Short N'Sweet' tour by "arresting Miss Piggy" and meeting Paul McCartney.
While on tour, Carpenter has a tradition of "arresting" members of the audience for being "so beautiful it should be a crime", including Millie Bobby Brown, Gigi Hadid, Maya Rudolph, Emma Bunton, TWICE, SZA, as well as Elle and Dakota Fanning and more.
At her final show in LA, Sabrina "arrested" The Muppets' Miss Piggy, with a little help from Bobo the Bear.
“I’d know that face anywhere,” she said, before asking: “Excuse me, what is your name?” “No one has prepared me for you being here, actually. Are you enjoying the show?”.
While she did say that she was "loving it", Miss Piggy did have some suggestions.
“You’re so funny, Miss Piggy, wow,” Carpenter replied. “You’re the only celebrity I get nervous to be around. I’m getting really flustered … We’ve arrested so many beautiful individuals and I feel like tonight is your night".
As Carpenter brought out the handcuffs, Bobo said that he would take care of business, before escorting Miss Piggy off the stage, adding: “I brought my own, thanks. Let’s go, Pig […] Tell it to the judge, sister". Find out more on this story here.
