Saoirse Ronan has revealed plans to step away from the public eye.
Having first featured in the 2007 film, Atonement, Ronan has gone on to feature in 29 movies. including Brooklyn, The Lovely Bones, Mary Queen of Scots and Little Women among others.
Last year, the Irish actress married Jack Lowden, before the couple went on to welcome their first child together, whose gender and name are yet to be revealed. Now Ronan has said she is keen to take a step back.
Speaking ahead of the release of her new movie, Bad Apples, Ronan said: "I've been doing it (acting) now for over 20 years, and there's a fork in the road in my life, where I need to protect my relationship with my work so that it doesn't get stale".
Ronan also spoke starting her career as a child actor, and the strife of finding work.
"I think if you spoke to most child actors who are still working, a lot of them probably have the same approach toward the work. There's a purity to it, and there's weirdly a simplicity to it that I don't believe you should shy away from just because you are older...I do this for myself. I don't do it for anyone else...I'll always want to protect that relationship that I have with it. As soon as it starts to not feel that way, then that's when I need to do something else".
The actress also spoke about finding the balance between work and enjoying life.
"I need to be having fun. That's not to say that every day I'm not on set, I'm a laugh a minute, but I enjoy what I do. I also need breaks from what I do", she said.
Back in June, Saoirse Ronan's father Paul, has announced that he has split from his wife Monica Brennan. More on this here.
