Sydney Sweeney shares an unexpected family connection with one of Hollywood's legendary icons, Marilyn Monroe.
According to a newly released genealogy study by MyHeritage, the Euphoria star and Monroe are distant relatives, with researchers identifying them as ninth cousins once removed. The connection was traced through a shared ancestor, Ezra Perry, an early settler of Sandwich, Massachusetts.

The family link runs through Sweeney's father, Steven Sweeney, and Monroe's biological father, Charles Stanley Gifford.
Researchers uncovered the relationship after examining the actresses' family trees, a project reportedly inspired by the many comparisons that have been made between the pair over the years.

Sweeney, 29, has frequently been likened to Monroe thanks to her classic Hollywood style and blonde bombshell image.
Earlier this year, Sweeney attended the Santa Barbara International Film Festival wearing a white gown reminiscent of one Monroe famously wore for a LIFE magazine cover shoot in 1952. Months before that, she drew further comparisons after stepping onto the red carpet for The Housemaid premiere in a flowing white dress that echoed Monroe's iconic look from The Seven Year Itch.
