More than 50 days after her beloved mum disappeared, Savannah Guthrie has given her first interview about the pain she’s going through.

The TV host’s mother, Nancy, 84, went missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1, and there have yet to be any leads in the case.

Speaking with her co-star on Today, Hoda Kotb, Savannah told how her family has been ‘in agony’ for the past two months and questioned whether her fame is behind what happened.

Recalling how she found out something was wrong, Savannah told how her brother, who was in the military, knew straight away that something wasn't right with their mother's disappearance.

'He said, "I think she’s been kidnapped for ransom." And I said, "What?!",' she said. 'It sounds so — how dumb could I be — but I said, "Do you think because of me?" He said, "I’m sorry, sweetie, but yeah, maybe".'

Savannah continued: 'I hope not. I mean, we still don’t know. Honestly, we don’t know anything. We don’t know anything. So I don’t know that it’s because she’s my mom and somebody thought, "Oh, that lady has money we could make a quick buck".'

'That would make sense, but that’s probably… which is too much to bear. To think that I brought this to her bedside, that it’s because of me? Can I just say, I’m so sorry, Mommy. I’m sorry to my sister and my brother and my kids and my nephew and Tommy, my brother-in-law. I’m just so sorry. I’m so sorry. If it is me, I’m so sorry,' she emotionally added.

In another part of the interview, which has aired over multiple days, Savannah told how her family is in 'agony' over not knowing what happened, and addressed the rumours that suggested her loved ones had something to do with what happened, saying these false claims piled 'pain upon pain.'

Saying that she wakes up every night in terror, Savannah said: ‘In the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought.'

The FBI has offered a $100,000 reward for information in the case, and the Guthrie family has offered $1million for a tip leading to their mother being found.

Elsewhere in the interview, Savannah said that she ‘still believes’ Nancy will be found and is ‘holding onto faith’ that they’ll be reunited.

Ahead of the interview airing, Savannah shared a statement on her social media asking the public for their help as she believes someone in their community holds the key to finding Nancy

‘Someone knows something. It’s possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realise is significant,’ she said.

Savannah continued: ‘We miss our mom with every breath, we cannot be at peace until she is home. We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder. Our focus is solely on finding her and bringing her home.
