The survey, conducted by lingerie brand Pour Moi, assessed voices based on pitch, tone, speed, and overall allure. Paul Mescal and Jamie Dornan were the only Irish performers to make the top five, earning global recognition for their vocal qualities.
Paul Mescal, who captured hearts as Connell in Normal People, was ranked third for his husky, compelling delivery. The survey placed him behind Chris Hemsworth, whose deep Australian tones topped the list with a 29.2/40 score, and Salma Hayek, whose accent earned her second place with 28.4/40. “His husky voice and careful delivery really drew listeners in,” noted the poll organizers, praising Mescal’s captivating tone.
Meanwhile, Jamie Dornan, best known as Christian Grey, tied for fifth with actress Florence Pugh, both scoring 27.4/40. The survey highlighted Dornan’s “sensual Northern Irish twang” as a major factor in his ranking, showing how regional accents can heighten vocal appeal.
The top ten also included Michael B. Jordan, Gerard Butler, Dua Lipa, and Michelle Yeoh, demonstrating the global fascination with voices that combine tone, rhythm, and personality.
For Irish audiences, Mescal and Dornan’s inclusion is a proud moment. Off-screen, Mescal remains discreet about his relationship with singer Gracie Abrams, saying he wants to “protect the precious relationship.”
This latest ranking reinforces that Irish talent is celebrated for the unique charm of its voices, capturing attention worldwide.
