Former The Only Way Is Essex star Jake Hall has died in Mallorca at the age of 35 after being found with severe head injuries at a holiday villa on the Spanish island.

Spanish authorities confirmed an investigation is underway after the reality TV personality was discovered unresponsive in a property in Santa Margalida, in the north of Mallorca, at around 7.30am on Wednesday morning.

Police sources in Spain said early inquiries are focusing on the possibility of a tragic accident involving a glass door at the villa, with investigators reportedly examining whether Hall suffered fatal injuries after smashing his head through glass.

The Spanish Civil Guard said the incident currently appears to be an accidental death, although a full investigation remains ongoing. No arrests have been made.

According to reports in local media, Hall was found in a pool of blood with wounds believed to have been caused by shards of glass. Officers have spoken to four men and two women who had been staying at the rental property with him.

One police source reportedly said: “We are focusing on the theory the victim died in a tragic accident after hitting his head against the glass door but it is still too early to say definitely what happened.”

Witness accounts suggest the group had been out partying before returning to the villa during the early hours of the morning.

A source close to the investigation claimed: “Witnesses told investigators he had been out partying all night and decided to carry on the party back at the place he was renting.”

The same source alleged Hall may have become agitated after consuming alcohol and potentially other substances, although authorities have not publicly confirmed this.

Neighbours in the area also described hearing loud disturbances coming from the property shortly before emergency services arrived.

One neighbour told local newspaper Ultima Hora that the noises were intense enough to make walls vibrate.

“I began to hear a very loud noise, as if they were drilling something. They stopped after about five minutes and then I fell asleep,” the neighbour said.

Despite the disturbance, the neighbour added the group had not previously caused problems and appeared “relatively normal”.

An autopsy is expected to take place in Palma, the capital of Mallorca, as investigators work to establish the exact circumstances surrounding Hall’s death.

A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed British officials are supporting Hall’s family.

They said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.”

Hall rose to fame after appearing on The Only Way Is Essex, becoming a familiar face on the ITV reality series during the mid-2010s.

Following news of his death, the show’s production team paid tribute in a statement.

“Jake was a part of the Towie family for a number of years and we send our very deepest sympathies to his family and friends following today’s very sad news,” the statement said.

Hall had been spending time in Mallorca, where he reportedly owned a second home and regularly travelled for both work and leisure.

In the days before his death, he had posted photographs and videos from the island on Instagram, including images of artwork and sculpture projects he had been working on.

Hours before he died, Hall shared what would become his final Instagram post, set to the Rolling Stones song Beast of Burden.

The caption read: “Life is bollocks sometimes but I’m gonna try remember the good things – looking through things – I’m just making art – in many forms.”

Singer Antony Costa from Blue added: “So sad, what a lovely bloke you were mate R.I.P.”

Former Love Island winner Jack Fincham also shared his condolences, writing: “Cannot believe what I have just read. Condolences to Jake’s family a very sad day. Rest in perfect peace mate.”

Hall is survived by his daughter, River, whom he shared with Ladies of London star Missé Beqiri.

The pair had an on-and-off relationship beginning in 2016 and became engaged in 2018 before later separating following a turbulent period in their relationship.

Outside reality television, Hall had also worked as a model and footballer and was known in celebrity circles, attending high-profile events and parties in recent years.

Last year, he was photographed socialising with Kanye West and Bianca Censori following the Grammy Awards.
