Lewis is best known for winning the X Factor back in 2006, she then went on to break a world record when she released her debut single 'A Moment Like This' in the same year. Her last single 'I Am' was released in 2015 and the 40 year old singer is currently performing a Las Vegas residency over the Christmas period.
It has been revealed that Lewis is creating the album all by herself as she is writing, producing and playing all of the instruments. She explained that although this was "new territory" for her, it allowed her to have full creative freedom when creating the album. "It means that it's very unfiltered. It's very raw," she said.
In an interview with The Sun, she said: "I've actually been in and out of the studio for the past couple of years, It's been a real labour of love, and I'm planning to share music next year."
Lewis was due to perform in Las Vegas, however was forced to cancel her shows over the weekend as she has fallen sick with a sore throat. The singer explained that she was forced to cancel due to doctors orders.
"To my lovely fans, I'm heartbroken to share that I will not be able to perform tomorrow night's show. I have been battling a sore throat for the past few days, and while I tried pushing through tonight's show, it has only left me feeling worse," she wrote in a statement to her fans.
She continued: "I will be spending this time recovering and on vocal rest so I can come back stronger and give you all the show you deserve. This was not an easy decision and I'm truly so gutted to disappoint any of you who had plans to attend. Thank you for your patience, kindness and understanding. I'm so grateful for you all always showing up for me and love each of you so much. I'll see you back under the stars very soon."
The following night, Lewis was forced to cancel another show due to her illness. However she assured fans that she expects to be cleared for Christmas Eve.
Lewis was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease in 2017, the singer has been open about her illness as she has explained the fatigue and pain she suffers due to the condition.
In an interview with Glamour in 2017, Lewis explained that after she was diagnosed she wanted to change her life. "I just got to a point where I wanted to start over physically and emotionally. I started eating better, and I stopped straightening my hair," she said.
