A reported documentary following Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson has allegedly been scrapped after a serious fallout between the two singers, including claims of a physical altercation.
The project, which was said to be in development with Netflix, was first reported last October and would have followed the former One Direction bandmates on a “spontaneous adventure” across the United States as they attempted to rebuild their friendship.
The three-part series was expected to give fans a rare insight into their lives post-band and was being directed by Nicola Marsh.

However, the documentary now appears to have been shelved, with reports suggesting tensions between the pair escalated behind the scenes. According to claims published by The Sun, an alleged incident six months ago saw Malik physically strike Tomlinson during an argument.
A source claimed Malik “punched him straight in the face”, allegedly leaving Tomlinson “stunned and in shock” and requiring medical attention for a concussion after sustaining a cut to his head.
The reported dispute is said to have stemmed from a remark about Tomlinson’s mother, Johannah Deakin, who died from leukaemia in 2016 at the age of 43—a deeply sensitive subject for the singer.
While the claims remain unconfirmed, the fallout is believed to have derailed the documentary, with the streaming giant reportedly hoping the pair would reconcile before moving forward.
When that failed to materialise, the project was allegedly dropped.
Adding to speculation, Marsh appeared to reference the situation on social media shortly after the reports emerged, writing: “And there goes the last year of work.”
Neither Malik nor Tomlinson has publicly addressed the alleged incident.

The documentary had been expected to build on what fans saw as a tentative reconciliation between the pair, including Tomlinson’s appearance at Malik’s Los Angeles show in January 2025—their first public reunion since the funeral of bandmate Liam Payne months earlier.
Professionally, both artists have continued to focus on their solo careers.
Malik recently released his fifth studio album, while Tomlinson dropped his third record earlier this year, describing it as a turning point in his confidence as a solo performer.
