Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene shortly after midnight following reports that a man had fallen several metres from a seawall onto the rocky shoreline below.
Paramedics reached the casualty by making their way approximately 100 metres along the shore. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is being treated as a suspected accident.
A Garda spokesperson said: “It was reported that a male fell from a height near the shoreline. The male, aged in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene and his body has been removed to University Hospital Galway where a post mortem will take place. No further information is available.”
The National Ambulance Service, the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard, Galway Fire and Rescue Service from Gort, and Gardaí all responded to the incident.
The man's body was recovered by fire service personnel and coast guard members before being transferred to University Hospital Galway.
The incident occurred on the N67, opposite a local secondary school in Kinvara.
