Gardaí have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman whose body was discovered at an apartment in Limerick city.
The woman was found on Friday morning at an apartment on Lower Cecil Street.
She has been locally named as Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, who was in her 30s and originally from Brazil.
Her body was taken from the scene to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination was carried out by the State Pathologist.
Gardaí said the results of the examination are not being released for operational reasons.
Investigators said their inquiries are continuing and that they are currently following a line of investigation.
The scene on the upper floors of the apartment building remained preserved as Garda technical examinations were carried out.
It is understood Ms Pereira Rosa worked for a cleaning company in Limerick and had a large circle of friends in the area.
Local Fine Gael councillor Daniel Butler paid tribute to Ms Pereira Rosa and offered his condolences to her family and friends.
Sympathies to the family and her many friends here in Limerick, especially within the Brazilian community who are very close. She is described as a person who was kind, friendly and bubbly and a real asset to the local community, he said.
A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to provide support to Ms Pereira Rosa’s family.
