A Galway hotel leisure centre has reopened after the hazardous material unit squad attended there on Wednesday.
The squad attended due to an incident that occurred there this week.
Ocean Fitness Leisure Centre at Salthill Hotel was closed with "immediate effect" from around 6pm yesterday evening so emergency services could deal with the incident.
According to Galway Live, Galway Fire Brigade's Hazardous Material Unit and Fire Brigade personnel were at the scene until late last night.
An email obtained by the news outlet, was sent out to its members to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The email read: “Dear members, we wish to advise that Ocean Fitness Leisure Centre and swimming pool will be closed with immediate effect due to unforeseen circumstances. We apologise for the short notice and for any inconvenience this may cause. We will keep all members updated and will notify you as soon as the leisure centre and pool are able to reopen. Thank you for your patience and understanding and apologies for the inconvenience. Kind regards, The Ocean Fitness Team, Salthill Hotel.”
A spokesperson for the hotel stated last night that the Leisure Centre would be back open to the public on today.
