Gardaí were called to the scene in Brookwood Heights in Atrane in the early hours of today, around 00:30, after reports of disturbances were made. The man was treated for his injuries at the scene but died a short time later.
Another man in his 60's was arrested at the incident, and is currently being questioned by the Gardaí.
Reports indicate that both men knew each other.
The mans body has been removed from the house, a post-mortem examination is currently underway to determine the cause of death.
The Gardaí have verified that they are following a direct line of investigation and are not currently searching for any other involvement.
The scene in Artane has been preserved for forensic examination while the inquiry is taking place. A control centre has been set up in Clontarf Garda station.
