Gardaí have confirmed that a petrol bomb attack took place at a home in Drimnagh, south Dublin in the early hours of this morning, and an investigation is being carried out.
It has been reported that the latest attack is part of an ongoing feud between two street drug dealing gangs in south Dublin, according to detectives working on the case. The fire itself, which took place on Benmadigan Road, was extinguished by members of the Dublin Fire Brigade, while a man aged in his 20s was taken to hospital as a precaution.
No other injuries were thankfully reported following this attack.
This reported ongoing feud has been part a spate of shootings and rammings across Inchicore, Crumlin and Bluebell, while two other petrol bomb attacks also took place on homes in Inchicore and Ballyfermot over the last few weeks.
In light of all this, the chairperson of the Dublin South Central Community Safety Partnership had said that the violence being witnessed is "spiralling" and "unacceptable", adding that the whole community is being held "to ransom". (All quotes according to RTÉ).
Elsewhere, Sinn Féin councillor, Daithí Doolan said that he will be writing to senior gardaí and the Minister for Justice, Jim O'Callaghan, as he feels that a plan is needed in order to tackle this ongoing violence.
In other news, a man in his 30s appeared at Tullamore District Court after a drone was intercepted near Portlaoise Prison. This comes as Gardaí had responded to calls on Tuesday afternoon, amid concerns of an alleged attempt to fly a drone into the prison campus in Co Laois. More on this story here.
