An Garda Siochana in Galway are currently investiagting the attack. The incident occured near Merlin Park Woods on Wednesday April 29 shortly after 8pm.
The men chased their victim through the woods and allegedly cut their shoulder.
Motive for the attack has not been revealed.
A Garda spokesperson told GalwayBeo: "Gardaí attended the scene after being alerted to an alleged incident of Fearann Rí Co. Galway that occurred shortly after 8:00pm on Wednesday 29th April, 2026. Enquires are ongoing."
In other news, An Garda Siochana in Galway are currently investigating a burglary which occured in a home in Kinvara between 12pm-3pm. A number of items were taken from the home. An Garda Siochana in Galway City are warning people of reports of unsolicited trades persons going around offering various services from power washing to gutter cleaning to tree cutting services.
An Gardai Siochana provided statement on the incident to Galway Beo, they said: "Gardai in Galway City have in recent weeks received reports of unsolicited trades persons going around offering various services from power washing to gutter cleaning to tree cutting services. Many of these unsolicited trades persons have glossy flyers that add credence to their offerings. Gardai would ask neighbour’s to keep an eye out for vulnerable or elderly neighbours and to advise them not to engage with unsolicited trades people that randomly turn up offering the various services already mentioned. If anyone needs any work done, then they should do so ideally by recommendation and not to feel pressurised by any unsolicited callers offering various services. If anyone has any concerns about any such persons calling to their home, they are advised to report these approaches to their local Gardai."
