Two Men Plead Guilty Over Plot To Set Fire To Galway Mosque

Two men have pleaded guilty to terror offences over a plot to set fire to a mosque in Galway.

Darren Gorman and Garrett Pollock have both pleaded guilty today to attempting to engage in terrorist activity to set fire to the Maryam Mosque at Old Cottages, Monivea Road, Galway between 4 and 5 November 2025.

Gorman has a sole charge under the Criminal Justice (Terrorist Offences) Act 2005. He is 34 years old and abodes in Portlaoise, Co Laois.

Pollock has been charged further with the possesion of of two hatchets, a knuckle duster and a hunting knife in a silver BMW. He is further charged with possession an explosive substance. The 35 year year old is from  Annalong, Co Down.


Two other men have been charged with attempting to damage the mosque. Charles Flynn, a 35 year old from Castleconnell, Co Limerick and Karolis Peckauskas a 39 year old from Drogheda, Co Louth.

Flynn and Peckauskas' barristers requested a hearing on Monday 29th, which was granted.

An Garda Síochána and the PSNI are cooperating to investigate an alleged plot to attack the mosque by a group who are disguising themselves as the Irish Defence Army (IDA).

Gardaí told the court that they believed an attack on the Galway mosque was imminent and that they had seized a “manifesto document outlining an intention to attack.
