Bruce Springsteen has announced that his wife, Patti Scialfa is in remission, following her cancer diagnosis.
This comes after Scialfa, who has been married to the singer since 1991, was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer, in 2018.
Speaking live at a virtual appearance at the Pann-Mass Challenge fundraiser in Boston, which raises funds for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, supporting cancer research and treatment, Springsteen confirmed the good news regarding his wife's cancer battle.
"As you know, Patti's been living with her multiple myeloma for over eight years, but now, thankfully, she is in remission", Springsteen said. "However, like millions of families facing cancer, we've learned what every patient learns: Hope has a face. It's our physician, who refuses to stop searching and caring. It's our nurse, who sits beside us when we are scared".
Springsteen also applauded the institute, adding that it is a "reason families find hope when hope seems hardest to find".
"Patti and I are grateful for everything you continue to do. Thank you", he added.
Having been diagnosed in 2018, Patti kept her news quite, before going public in 2024, which saw her appear in the documentary, Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
Scialfa, a guitarist who has been a member of the band since 1984 had said at the time that he had taken some time away from touring with the E Street Band as it had become a challenge.
"This affects my immune system, so I just have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go", she said.
Patti Scialfa and Bruce Springsteen, also share three children, who are now aged in their 30s.
Back in June, Springsteen had apologised for not licensing his song, 'Girls in Their Summer Clothes' for a GAP clothing commercial for Bono's RED AIDS foundation, having been asked by the U2 singer in 2008. More on this here.
