Dua Lipa has expanded her love of literature by opening a permanent library in Portugal, dedicated to books that have been banned, censored or challenged around the world.
The singer unveiled The Manifesto Library on Saturday as part of BABELL – City of Books, a new international literary festival in Porto. The collection will remain permanently housed inside the historic Livraria Lello bookshop.
The project builds on Lipa's Service95 Book Club, which she launched in 2023. Each month, the club recommends a new title, with the Grammy-winning artist also interviewing the featured author for an accompanying podcast.

Announcing the new library, Lipa described the collaboration as the culmination of years of work to encourage more people to discover books and writers from around the world.
“When I founded the Service95 Book Club, my ambition was for it to become a home for writers and readers, wherever they are and whatever their circumstances.”
The library features 100 books that have either been banned, censored or challenged in different countries and communities, covering topics including race, sexuality and LGBTQIA+ issues.
Explaining the idea behind the collection, Lipa said many of the featured works had faced restrictions simply because of the issues they explore.
“Reading the world brings us closer — but sadly, not everyone is in favour of that.”
“Here you will find one hundred books that ask questions, or have been questioned. Some have been banned by school districts for themes of race or sexuality. Others, written for LGBTQIA+ readers, have been restricted from display. In some cases, the author has paid for their words with their life.”

The pop star said the library is intended to celebrate both the writers who challenged authority and the readers who continue to seek out their work.
“This library is a shrine to books that have disappeared, to authors whose courage unmasks structures of power and control, and to readers who refuse to be told what book they are allowed to read.”
“You are invited to visit and decide for yourself what belongs on these shelves. Because sometimes the most subversive thing you can do is read a book and then talk about it.”
Lipa has become an increasingly prominent figure in the literary world in recent years. Alongside her Service95 Book Club, she has regularly used her platform to promote reading and spotlight contemporary authors. She is also set to curate the 2026 London Literature Festival at Southbank Centre.

Dua Lipa and Callum Turner, who have been together since early 2024, tied the knot at Old Marylebone Town Hall on Sunday in an intimate celebration attended by close family and friends.
Photographs from the day showed the newlyweds leaving the civil ceremony hand in hand as guests showered them with confetti and flower petals outside the iconic London venue, which has previously hosted weddings for stars including Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Liam Gallagher.
The event appeared to be intimate, with a small group of family and friends throwing confetti as the couple walked down the stairs of the building hand-in-hand.
Lipa held a small posy of pastel-coloured flowers as she left the ceremony with her new husband.

The pop star announced that she and Turner were engaged last year, telling British Vogue: "It's very exciting. This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don't know, be best friends forever - it's a really special feeling."
The wedding is reportedly just the first of several celebrations planned by the couple. Reports suggest they are set to host a second three-day wedding event in Palermo, Sicily, later this week.
A host of famous names are rumoured to be on the guest list, including Elton John, Charli XCX, Mark Ronson, Donatella Versace and designer Simon Porte Jacquemus, who has been tipped by some fans as the possible creator of Lipa's second wedding dress.
The singer and Jacquemus have been friends for years, with Lipa frequently wearing his designs and attending his wedding to Marco Maestri in 2022.
Lipa first confirmed the couple's engagement during an interview with British Vogue, revealing that Turner had the ring specially made after consulting her sister and closest friends.
She said: "Yeah, we're engaged."
Adding: "It's very exciting. This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don't know, be best friends forever—it’s a really special feeling."

The couple first met at The River Café in London before reconnecting at a mutual friend's party in Los Angeles. Lipa later revealed they discovered they were both reading the same novel, Trust by Hernán Díaz, and had each just finished the first chapter.
They were first publicly linked in January 2024 after attending the after-party for the premiere of Masters of the Air in Los Angeles. Throughout the year they were spotted together at a number of high-profile events, including parties following the Grammy Awards, BAFTA Awards and BRIT Awards.
Turner was also seen supporting Lipa from the sidelines during her headline performance at Glastonbury Festival in 2024.
The pair made their official red carpet debut at the Met Gala in May 2025, having already sparked engagement speculation months earlier when Lipa shared photographs showing a large diamond ring on her finger.
