Sheeran discussed his plan to move to America on The Two Johnnies podcast, stating that his upcoming tour is part of the reason why he is about to make the move to the states.
"I'm just about to move to America… I feel like I might be the only person moving to America… I’m going on tour there for a while, so I have a family, so I can’t dip in and out, we’re going and settling there," the Galway Girl singer said.
The news comes after Sheeran revealed that he had hoped to move to Nashville to transition into country music. Speaking of the transition, Sheeran explained on the Call Her Daddy podcast in April that when you "transition to country, you can’t transition back."
Sheeran's decision to move comes not long after he sparked controversy by claiming that he identifies "culturally as Irish," despite being born and raised in England. The singer opened up about his heritage, stating that he classes himself as Irish as "I think that's what I grew up with," he explained on The Louis Theroux Podcast in June. Read more here.
In his most recent interview with The Two Johnnies, Sheeran was asked about his UK home. He told the hosts that he owns two pubs and a chapel in the UK. Sheeran explains the reason for the pubs in the UK, "I think it’s nice for me, people always look at stuff like that in my lifestyle and think it’s a bit weird, but like, I think to go out and really let loose with camera phones around, you can’t really do that anymore if you’re well known. So it’s having a place where you can have a few pints, a dance, and a sing, and get a bit silly, and not worry about it being on TikTok the next morning."
