Capaldi appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to perform his new song 'Survive' and to discuss his return to music with host Jimmy Fallon. The singer initially debuted this song at Glastonbury 2025, and has since recieved a positive reaction from his fans.

The interview began by Fallon reading out a series of headlines after the singers performance at Glastonbury before asking how it felt to return after his two year break from the industry. The singer took time away from the music industry to focus on his mental and physical health, he has previously been open with his struggles with Tourettes Syndrome and Anxiety, announcing at the end of his 2023 tour that he would be taking an extended break.
Capaldi stated that it was terrifying to return to the stage and that ,"in the lead-up, I was like, ‘This is the worst thing, I made a terrible decision,’ and then we went out and then we did it, and it was really beautiful and lovely.” He continued to say that the set went exactly the way he wanted it to go and that it was "the best day of my life."
Capaldi compared his 2023 Glastonbury set to his set in 2025, "The first time did not go well. I had what the children would refer to as a bit of a ‘menty b’ – a mental breakdown – on stage … I used to tic quite a lot. I still do tic, but I used to do this thing with my shoulder and it became really uncontrollable and I had a panic attack and all this stuff on stage at Glastonbury.”
He explained that he has experienced tics on stage before but nothing compares to the tics that he had at Glastonbury. He added, “It really made me sort of think, ‘Oh, God, I need to actually go and get myself sorted. I can’t really keep doing this to myself.’
The singer also spoke to Fallon about his work with BetterHelp, a mental health service that offers online therapy and counselling. He explains that “Therapy has been a big thing for me, getting back to a place where I can come and perform and do this as a job again.”
Shortly after Capaldi's set at Glastonbury, he announced a UK and Ireland tour that sold out in seconds.
