Edwards is best known for being a member of the girl band Little Mix who won the X Factor in 2011, and for their hit songs 'Black Magic' and 'Wings'.
The singer discussed her miscarriages on the podcast 'We Need to Talk', hosted by Paul C Brunson. Edwards revealed that her first miscarriage occured before the birth of her son Axel in 2021, she also added that it happened early in the pregnancy.
"I remember finding out I was pregnant. Obviously, I started bleeding not long after, and I went to hospital and I had the scan and they were like, 'There's no baby.’ The singer explained that she felt as if she had made it up whilst attending the appointments on her own and wondered if she had a "false positive".
The Little Mix singer went on to say that a year after the birth of her son Axel, with fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, a former England footballer, she fell pregnant again. She explained that she had felt ill whilst rehearsing for the last Little Mix tour. "I thought, ‘I don’t feel good’. Every symptom under the sun. I was like, ‘I think I’m pregnant," she said.
24 weeks later, Edwards explained after they had started planning the nursery, doctors had told them that the baby didn't have a heartbeat. She explained this moment as "the worst day of my life."
The singer continued to express the emotions that she had felt after recieving this news, "it’s weird, because the first time it happened, I think because it was so early, I was like, ‘Oh, that’s hard’. But I think when you’re 24 weeks and you’ve planned out that room and all these things, it’s really hard. And nobody knows other than immediate friends and family."
Edwards and Oxlade-Chamberlain have been together since 2017 and became engaged in 2022, around the same time as her second miscarriage.
