Mel C has sparked fresh excitement among Spice Girls fans after revealing she is “optimistic” about the group reuniting for their 30th anniversary next year. The singer appeared on Good Morning America to promote her upcoming ninth album Sweat, but conversation quickly turned to the possibility of the iconic girl group getting back together.

Melanie said she believes the timing couldn’t be better for another reunion, telling viewers: “I remain optimistic. It’s our thirtieth anniversary next year.” She explained that while the decision is a big one, the appetite is certainly there. Their last run of shows — a series of massive stadium dates across the UK in 2019 — reminded the band just how much their music still means to people. “We toured in 2019, we did a few stadium shows in the UK and it was incredible,” she said.

The singer reflected on the group’s lasting impact and the new generation of young fans discovering their music through streaming, social media, and pop culture nostalgia. “We’re just so proud of the legacy that we have and we have fans now from new generations are just loving the Spice Girls, so I would like to get back on stage with the girls,” she continued.

Most encouragingly for fans, she confirmed that behind-the-scenes discussions are indeed happening. “We’re talking and we’re seeing what opportunities are out there,” she said. But she emphasised that the group wants to be sure the timing and setup are right before committing to anything. “The thing that stops us is we feel so precious about it, we want to make sure it’s the right thing and agree on the right thing.”

Reunion speculation has been building for months, especially after all five members — Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham — were seen singing and dancing together at Victoria’s 50th birthday last year. Their impromptu performance of Stop, of which a short snippet was captured by David Beckham, went viral and reignited hopes that even Victoria might be open to performing again.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, Mel C’s comments will be a major boost for fans who’ve been waiting years for the Spice Girls to reunite as a full five-piece. With a milestone anniversary ahead and clear enthusiasm from the group, the possibility of seeing them back on stage feels closer than it has in years — and perhaps, as Mel hints, this could finally be the moment that brings all five Spice Girls together once more.
