Rod Stewart has praised King Charles for putting "that little rat bag" Donald Trump "in his place".

This comes after the monarch met the US President during a four day visit to the US last month, where he discussed the "indispensable alliance" between the UK and the US, as well as calling on the US's continued defence of Ukraine, and the importance of NATO.

The event also saw the King joke that America might be "speaking French" if it were not for the British.

The Maggie May singer praised King Charles while attending an event in London yesterday, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the King's Trust, formerly known as the Prince's Trust.

At this event, Stewart was full of praise for King Charles, hailing the monarch for his recent visit to the US and the summit with President Donald Trump, where he told the monarch: “You were superb. Absolutely superb. You put that little ratbag in his place".

Last June, Rod Stewart had said that he was no longer friends with Mr Trump over his continued support of Israel in their conflict with Gaza.

Stewart, who used to live close to the President, told the Radio Times: “I’m not a great fan of Trump. I knew him very, very well. I used to go to his house. I live literally half a mile away. We’re both on the beach. I used to go to his Christmas parties. He’s always been a bit of a man’s man. I liked him for that. But he didn’t, as far as I’m concerned, treat women very well".

He added: “Since he became President, he became another guy. Somebody I didn’t know".

“No, I can’t anymore", Stewart said when asked if there was any chance of a reconnection with Trump. As long as he’s selling arms to the Israelis — and he still is. How’s that war ever gonna stop?",
