Six crew members have been taken to hospital after being hit by a piece of stage equipment, while working at an Ed Sheeran show in Detroit.
This happened after the crews had been dismantling the stage following Sheeran's show at Detroit Ford Field last Saturday (August 29), after reportedly being sent to the stadium at around 11pm.
The incident has been described by Click On Detroit as a "forklift injury accident", which is believed to have taken place near a ramp in a vehicle tunnel, when the equipment suddenly lost control, hitting several crew members, just as they were walking away to take a break.
It has since been reported that six crew members were taken to hospital, although none of them are believed to be suffering with life threatening injuries.
One of the members was kept in hospital overnight, with two patients in a reportedly serious condition, while the other four remain in a stable condition at the time of writing.
In a statement per The Independent, the Detroit Ford Stadium said: “Ford Field has begun a full review and is cooperating with the appropriate authorities and with the event’s production partners. Out of respect for the people involved and the integrity of that review, we will not speculate on the cause. We are grateful to the Detroit Fire Department and EMS for their rapid response".
It is not immediately clear what piece of equipment was involved and what exactly caused this accident.
At the time of writing, Ed Sheeran had yet to comment on the matter.
Last month, Ed Sheeran also reacted to being mocked in the new Ali G trailer. The film itself, Ali G: Who IZ I?, is to arrive on cinema screens on October 23.
In the trailer, which is narrated by director and star, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ali G says: “I’z been gone for 20 years, chillin’, and in that time the world went to crap. There was COVID, wars, and Ed Sheeran".
