Centra is stepping into the world of modern dating with a new in-person singles event, tied to the launch of its loyalty app My Centra.

The convenience retailer has introduced the app as part of a wider push to reward customers for loyalty, offering perks such as exclusive discounts, bundle deals, member pricing, and a free Frank & Honest coffee for users who download it before 1 July.

To mark the launch, Centra is partnering with Your Friend, My Friend to host a live dating event in Dublin on 11 June at 7pm, taking place at Old Fashioned Sam’s.

The event will feature Dallas-based actress and comedian Theresa Rowley as a VIP guest of honour. Rowley, who went viral after a high-profile transatlantic romance with an Irish man ended in heartbreak, will be part of the night as Centra looks to explore themes of loyalty — both in relationships and everyday life.

Centra says the idea behind the campaign is to connect its brand message of loyalty with modern dating culture, asking whether people can show the same consistency in relationships as they do with everyday habits like their coffee or lunch choices.

The company describes the initiative as “loyalty that loves you back”, linking it directly to the new My Centra app, which is designed to reward repeat customers across its stores nationwide.

Centra Retail Marketing Manager Heather Murphy said the brand sees loyalty reflected in everyday customer behaviour, pointing to familiar routines, regular orders and community ties across its stores.

She added that the app aims to formalise that relationship with customers through rewards and offers, including discounted pricing and a free coffee incentive for new users.

The dating event itself will bring together Irish singles in an informal setting, with organisers positioning it as an alternative to online dating, which has faced growing criticism for fatigue and lack of real-world connection.

The campaign also leans into the viral attention around Theresa Rowley’s relationship story, which has become a talking point in wider discussions about commitment, modern romance and expectations in dating.
