The Australian Prime Minister has apologised over his recent comments about Kylie Minogue.
Anthony Albenese has apologised over comments he made about the singer on a comedy podcast, Bush Deep, hosted by comedian, Nikki Osborne. In the episode, the PM was asked to take part in a game called "shag, marry or date", which was released on Friday.
Albenese was asked to choose between Minogue, Rhonda Burchmore and Nicole Kidman.
Having initially declined to answer, saying that he had recently married Jodie Haydon, Mr Albanese was asked whom he would choose to marry if his current marriage was to come to an end. To which he replied: "Kylie clearly".
When asked by Osborne if that meant he would marry, have sex with and date the singer, he replied: "All of the above".
Now, the Prime Minister has issued a statement, apologising over these comments.
"I apologise unequivocally for the comments", he said.
This comes after the comments drew huge criticism from opposition politicians and women's rights groups.
Independent MP, Zali Steggal said that the PM should not have taken part in the game in the first place, and should have called it out for being sexist.
While Liberal senator, Sarah Henderson said that these comments were "disrespectful to women, embarrassing to Australians and demean the office of Prime Minister".
Kylie Minogue has yet to comment on the matter.
