Barry Manilow has opened up about undergoing cosmetic surgery.
The singer spoke about this to the Los Angeles Times, where he was asked about his appearance and if he has had any cosmetic surgery in order to maintain his youthful appearance. He also offered fans an update regarding his battle with lung cancer, having been diagnosed in December.
"I look fantastic, but I’m a hundred years old, right? I don’t know how that happened, by the way — I don’t get Botox or anything", Manilow said on his appearance.
When asked if had any "work done", Barry Manilow gave a resounding "No!", before he added: "I must say: There was one time when we lived in L.A. that I did do a facelift. But after that it’s just been a little here, a little there".
He continued: "'Work' is like a facelift, and I only had one of those. The rest of it — I see something falling down, sure, I’ll do that. I’m as vain as anybody else. One of my old friends, his mother said, 'I always knew he was talented, but when did he get so handsome?".
Previously, Barry Manilow was forced to call off his farewell tour, having been diagnosed with cancer. Last year, a cancerous spot was found on the singer's lung, which was later removed through surgery.
Manilow was then forced to cancel his shows following doctors' advice, after they said: "Barry, you won't be ready to do a 90-minute show. Your lungs aren't ready yet. You're in great shape considering what you've been through, but your body isn't ready".
Thankfully, Barry Manilow is now cancer free, and has praised his doctors with saving his life, after he initially underwent an MRI of his pelvis when he started to suffer with pain in his hips then his lungs, having been initially checked for bronchitis.
Manilow said: "If he hadn’t done that, man ... He saved my life, because there’s no symptoms for what I had. I could go on, nothing hurt — but they found the dot in my lung," Manilow said. "They called me and said, ‘Could be cancer.’ That’s a bad word. ‘Not me. F--- you. I can’t have cancer".
Now, Barry Manilow has so much to look forward to, with his new album, What A Time arriving next week (June 5). His recent single, 'Once Before I Go' saw him land another top 10 single, meaning that he is the only artist to have a hit in six consecutive decades.
"It has really, really made me take stock of my life. This made me stop and think about: Have I done what I wanted to do, and have I made people happy? Have I been a good friend? All of those cornball things that I’ve read for all of my life, I started to think about that, too. It really did stop me in my tracks", he explained. "And the answers are yes. And as a matter of fact, there are more yeses than I ever thought".
