The film itself features actor Chris Evans voicing Buzz, with Uzo Aduba as Alisha Hawthorne. Aduba's character is in a romantic relationship with another woman, who she kisses in the film.

The movie was advertised for screening ahead of release on June 16.

However, the Ministry of Youth and Culture's media regulatory have announced that the film will not be screened in the UAE, as it violates the nation's standard's regarding media content.

Rashid Khalfan Al Nuaimi who is the Media Regulatory Office Executive, added that the film's inclusion of "homosexual" characters in scenes, mean that the film has been banned.

Some social media users had claimed that same-sex relationships was against their religion, while they also insisted that children should not be exposed to this issue.

Homosexual relationships are criminalised in the UAE, as it is in the Middle East and Muslim countries.
