Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has been sacked after 20 years with the Formula One team.
Horner, who has led Red Bull to eight Drivers' World Championship titles in his tenure, was told of the shock decision yesterday, before addressing the team earlier this morning at their UK base in Milton Keynes.
It has also been reported by Sky Sports News that two other senior management figures with close connections to Horner, have also departed Red Bull.
Confirming this news, Red Bull Managing Director, Oliver Mitzlaff released this statement.
"We would like to thank Christian Horner for his exceptional work over the last 20 years", he said. "With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise and innovative thinking, he has been instrumental in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula 1".
"Thank you for everything, Christian, and you will forever remain an important part of our team history".
Laurent Mekies has been appointed as CEO for Red Bull Racing, stepping up from the Racing Bulls Team, which will be headed by by Alan Permane.
Speaking about this, Martin Brundle, reporter for Sky Sports F1, said that Christian Horner had told him "no reason was given to him" for his dismissal.
During his tenure, Christian Horner has overseen two hugely successful periods for Red Bull, including Sebastian Vettel and the team winning four drivers' and constructors' championships from 2010 to 2013, as well as Max Verstappen winning the last four drivers' championships from 2021 to 2024.
The F1 team also won back to back constructors' championships in 2022 and 2023.
Off the track, Christian Horner has endured a tricky time, having been accused and cleared of allegations of inappropriate behaviour, which were made against him by a female colleague.
