Cillian Murphy has named 'Abbey Road' by The Beatles as his favourite album of all time.
The Peaky Blinders star made this revelation while promoting his new drama, Steve, as he sat down for an interview with NME alongside co star Little Simz. This chat saw the pair quizzed about that one album they would go back to over and over.
According to Little Simz, it was Frank Ocean's 2011 record, 'Nostalgia Ultra', while Murphy plucked for The Beatles's 1969 record., 'Abbey Road', which includes 'Here Comes The Sun' and 'Come Together'.
"When I was very young… I we used to go to the city library and actually rent cassettes”, Murphy stated. “And I remember renting ‘Abbey Road’ by The Beatles because my dad had the greatest hits on cassette".
“I listen to that over and over and over and over and over and over and over, and you know the second half is that whole McCartney collage thing which is just this incredible virtuosity. Yeah. And it’s like it always felt kind of like you were traveling through something".
The Oscar winning actor also shared his personal connection with the studio.
“Then I ended up living near Abbey Road. So bizarre” he said. “It just became like a road", he said.
Cillian Murphy's latest project Steve will be available via Netflix from October 3. More on this here.
