Fawlty Towers star John Cleese is to feature in a new documentary film, which will show a "different side" to the comic as he begins his European Tour.
Cleese, who is also best known for Monty Python, will take fans behind the scenes of his life on the road. The tour which is titled, Cleese Packs It In, will run for 23 shows across 16 cities over 6 weeks, as the film captures the icon on what may be his final European Tour.
"For the first time, audiences will see a different side to me - not just the dashing, devil-may-care, devastatingly handsome bon viveur, but also the decrepit, addled, nasty old geriatric that my PR team work day and night to hide from the public", Cleese said.
"You will see with your own eyes what it's really like for a moribund 85-year-old to struggle through a 23-city European tour, desperately trying to squeeze a few laughs from audiences who are clearly disappointed that they’ve wasted their hard-earned cash on over-priced tickets".
"This hatchet job is not just shocking, it’s also hilarious, as audiences everywhere laugh, not with me, but at me".
Cleese Packs It In will take audiences on the road, as Cleese reflects on his career, rise to stardom, and growing older in public.
Last week, it was confirmed that props, costumes as well as a lifelike llama from the final ever Monty Python show would be sold at an auction on July 20. More on this here.
