Kelly Osbourne has opened up about her dramatic weight loss following the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne, admitting she was shocked when she eventually saw how much weight she had lost.
The 41-year-old revealed that she was so concerned by her appearance ahead of this year’s Grammy Awards that she wore a wig in an attempt to hide how thin her face had become.
Speaking to The Daily Mail, Kelly said she had been unaware of just how much weight she had lost while dealing with the grief of losing her father.

It was only when she saw a photograph taken during a dress fitting for the Grammys that she realised how much her appearance had changed.
“I looked like the f**king Crypt Keeper,” she said. “I said, ‘This is scary. I didn’t know I looked like this’. My spine – you could see every single bone.”
Kelly explained that her friends and family had been concerned about her weight, but she was struggling to see what they could see while she was grieving.
“I couldn’t see what other people saw because I was in so much pain,” she said. “I just saw a broken person.”

The Grammys were particularly difficult for Kelly as the ceremony included a tribute to her father, who died in July 2025 aged 76.
She said she wanted to attend to support her mother, Sharon Osbourne, and honour her father's legacy, but admitted she was not in a good place at the time.
“I wore a wig to cover my face, so you couldn’t see how skinny my cheekbones really were,” she said.

Her stylists also helped her choose clothes that would not make her appear thinner.
“They knew I was going through something. So, we were trying to find clothes to not make me look skinnier,” Kelly explained.

“I was scared. I wanted to be there to support my mum and to pay tribute to my father's legacy. But in all honesty, when I reflect on it, I don't think I should have gone. I wasn't very well.”
Kelly also described how grief affected her appetite, saying she would feel nauseous when trying to eat because she was overwhelmed by pain.

Despite struggling herself, Kelly said she tried to protect her three-year-old son, Sidney, from seeing how badly she was suffering.
“Whenever he walked in the room, something would come over me and I’d snap into Miss Fun Mum,” she said.
“I didn’t cry in front of him; I’d walk out of the room. I always made sure that he was not exposed to inappropriate sorrow.”

Kelly has previously described the close relationship between Sidney and his grandfather, saying her son reminds her of Ozzy and has picked up some of his mannerisms and personality traits.
She said Sidney still visits Ozzy’s grave with her most days, where he leaves a feather and tells “Papa” about his day at nursery.
Kelly’s comments come after she has faced continued public scrutiny over her appearance.
Earlier this year, she hit back at cruel online comments about her weight, calling the abuse she received “disgusting” while she was still grieving her father.

The Osbourne family has faced a difficult year since Ozzy’s death, with Kelly also recently splitting from her fiancé, Slipknot musician Sid Wilson. The pair share their son Sidney.
Her brother Jack Osbourne recently said that Kelly is now in a “happier place” as she focuses on life with her son.
“She’s living her country life, and she’s just doing her thing, being a mum,” he said.
“She’s in a happier place and she’s got a good routine going. She’s focusing on her and her son.”
Ozzy Osbourne died at his home in Buckinghamshire on July 22, 2025, aged 76. His death came less than three weeks after he performed his final concert at Villa Park in Birmingham, his hometown.
