Lily Allen has revealed she was recently involved in a frightening car incident that saw her run off the road by an HGV, with the singer later admitting she feels “happy to be alive” following the ordeal.
The 40-year-old shared details of the incident on Instagram, posting a mix of sun-soaked holiday snaps alongside images of her damaged black Porsche 911 Carrera S, which appeared to have suffered fresh scratches along its side.
“Could have done without an HGV running me off the road but other than that a relatively good start to 2026,” Allen wrote in the caption, striking a characteristically wry tone despite the seriousness of what had occurred.
She later added: “Happy to be alive and to not be posting any photos taken in 2016,” referencing a recent social media trend that sees users sharing images from a decade ago.
Fans quickly flooded the comments with messages of concern and relief, many expressing gratitude that the singer escaped without serious injury. While Allen did not specify exactly where or when the incident occurred, she appeared keen to reassure followers that she was safe and in good spirits.
The luxury car involved in the incident appears to be a recent purchase, after Allen revealed on a recent episode of her podcast Miss Me with Miquita Oliver that she had been indulging in a spree of high-end buys.
“You’ve got to treat yourself and mark the moment,” she said during the episode. “I’m convinced I’m a billionaire. Handbags have been bought, jewels and a car has been bought.”
The incident comes during a period of significant transition for the singer. In October, Allen released her fifth studio album West End Girl, her first full-length project in several years. The album was widely praised for its introspective tone and candid reflections on ageing, relationships and self-worth.
Away from music, Allen has also been navigating life changes following her divorce from actor David Harbour, with the pair selling their Brooklyn townhouse last year. She now divides her time between London and New York, and has spoken openly in recent interviews about rebuilding her sense of independence.
Despite the unsettling start to the year, Allen has continued to share positive updates online, posting images from recent travels, artwork and jewellery, suggesting she is determined not to let the incident derail her plans.
She is due to return to the stage later this year with her West End Girl tour, which kicks off in March, bringing her new material to theatres before moving on to larger venues. Allen has added further dates in the UK and Ireland for June next year, which will see her perform in Newcastle, Glasgow, Leeds, Nottingham, Cardiff, Birmingham, London, before rounding things off in Ireland with a show at Dublin's 3Arena on June 30.
WATCH: Lily Allen performs Madeline on SNL with surprise guest
Lily Allen returned to Saturday Night Live on Saturday to perform songs from her new album, West End Girl. BUT, the night came with a surprise. Actress Dakota Johnson delighted fans by joining Allen onstage as a character in the album, named “Madeline”. It marked Allen’s first appearance on the iconic show in 18 years.
Allen performed songs from her new album West End Girl, which is inspired by the alleged infidelity of her ex-husband, Stranger Things actor David Harbour. During her second song, Madeline, Dakota Johnson appeared as the mysterious mistress, hidden behind a curtain for most of the performance.
Johnson also delivered the song’s spoken word ending, reading text messages to Allen, such as "I hate that you're in so much pain right now. He told me that you were aware this was going on and that he had your full consent". She then revealed herself to the audience and pecked Allen on the cheek.
The performance follows a successful year for the singer, who recently announced new dates for her sold out tour, including two nights in Dublin next June.
