An Irish content creator is among 456 players taking part in the second season of Netflix’s Squid Game: The Challenge.

The reality TV game show returns this Tuesday, November 4, with a fresh cast — and even some Irish blood.

Travel creator Sean Hammonds joins the line-up as Player 097. His addition comes after Eric Roberts and Mikie Bowe flew the flag for Ireland in the first season in 2023.

Contestants from all over the world will participate in the new season of the TV show, with Sean Hammonds hoping he had what it takes.

The Irish-Persian creator boasts more than a million followers on Instagram and 165,000 on TikTok — both of which he regularly posts travel content on.

Sean has travelled to 44 countries to date and is currently in Bangladesh where he has brought his followers along as he tries all the local delicacies and even did a bit of train surfing.

The 26-year-old creator left Ireland shortly after he graduated with a BSc in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from University College Dublin in 2022.

Previously speaking to The Irish Times, Sean revealed he chose his course as he didn’t want it to lead to set career which he said ‘wasn’t for me.’

He told the publication he had always had a love for travelling and was inspired by fellow travel creators so initially went to Asia where he began building up enough of a following that he could make money.

Elsewhere, Sean is also an accomplished chess player, and holds two Irish National titles. In 2024, Sean represented Iran in the Mister Universe competition.

Interestingly, it was Patrick Callahan, who represented Ireland, who was crowned the 2024 Mister Universe.

Announcing he was appearing on Squid Game: The Challenge, Sean said he had been ‘dying’ to reveal the exciting secret.

Friends and followers were chuffed, with one writing: ‘Now we know why you went offline for 3 weeks!!!’

Another added: ‘GAHH SEAN SO EXCITED FOR THIS.’

A third commented: ‘This is amazing.’

Squid Game: The Challenge series two launches on November 4.
