Mixed emotions for Boyzones final show as Irish fans travel to London for the farewell gig.

The boyband, 'Boyzone', was made up of Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham and the late Stephen Gately.

Their rise to fame began in 1993 when the boys appeared on the Gay Byrne show to showcase their dance moves.

Superfan, Michelle Evans told the Journal that she has been a fan since their appearance on the late late show. “They may not play a concert again, and I know they say that every few years!", whilst acknowleding that the concerts are quite expensive, she said: “I didn’t get to many of their concerts growing up, it just didn’t suit living in rural Ireland, but I’ve gone to a lot of the more recent concerts."

Boyzone's farewell tour left out Dublin on their list of stops. “It’s their hometown, they should have played something there, but I’m excited, and let’s go for it for London. I did think there would be enough interest, and they’ve often played the RDS, so I don’t know why they couldn’t have played somewhere like that," the superfan said.

Despite being from Dublin, the boys have seemed to exclude Ireland's capital. Janine Blake, lifelong Boyzone fan told the BBC that she was devastated that they were not coming to Ireland.

"Concert tickets are expensive enough, without having to consider the cost of going to London where you have flights and accommodation to pay for," she said.

Another fan, Rachel Hosie expressed her excitement to the Journal as she said her and her sister are lik "giddy teenagers." “We’ve been fans for so many years, and when we heard of the reunion, we both said we would get there no matter what. It’ll be really nostalgic for us, and I’m sure on the plane we’ll be chatting all about things we were doing when we were going to their concerts years ago," she said.

In other news, a brand new documentary about the boy band has been confirmed by Sky. The film titled, 'One For The Road', will take fans behind the scenes as they reunite "for the very last time."

"Against the backdrop of decades of personal history and the pressure of thousands of expectant fans, the band return carrying unresolved tensions and unfinished business from their final tour in 2019," Sky said in a statement.

"This time, they want to go out on their own terms and have the send-off that they - and the fans - so badly want. The response to the series was incredible, breaking records for the Sky Docs team. I think audiences really engaged in a celebrity doc with such raw truth and honesty," said executive producer Dov Freedman of Curious Films. We're incredibly privileged to be working with the boys again and telling the story of their final chapter," they continued.

Head of Documentary Commissioning at Sky, Hayley Reynolds said: "Boyzone: No Matter What sparked an extraordinary outpouring of love for the band, and we're thrilled to be working with Curious again to document this landmark reunion - something that may never have happened had the boys not approached telling their story with such honesty and candid testimony."
