Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley have revealed that they have been working so close on the set of Hamnet together that they have even started to share the same dreams.
The pair have been working closely together on Chloe Zhao's upcoming drama, focusing on the marriage between William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes Hathaway. The film will look at how the pair cope with the grief of losing their son Hamnet, who died aged 11 in 1596.
Having worked so close together, the pair have now declared that they are friends for life. Works like a dream you might say!
Speaking to RTÉ's Brendan O'Connor, Paul Mescal said that the pair's relationship: "felt like something that superseded a professional thing".
"It was an inspiring collaboration and a friendship that happened kind of instantly in the woods in Wales", the actor added.
Buckley on the other hand claimed that Mescal is someone that she is "going to travel through my life and have very important, significant moments with - as an actor and as a friend".
The pair, who have also received Golden Globe nominations for this movie, have also worked as a "dream guide" while on set as part of Chloe Zhao's holistic approach to making Hamnet.
When asked if their dreams began to sync with the job, Maynooth native Paul Mescal said: "Yeah, absolutely', before explaining their dreams even started matching each other's".
"We dreamt about a cow in the same week, me and Jessie," he added. 'It was bananas".
This month, Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley also walked along the Dublin red carpet for the Irish premiere of Hamnet, which took place at the Light House Cinema. The movie will be released on Irish cinemas on January 9. More on this story here.
Hamnet which is also tipped for Oscar nominations, has seen Paul Mescal nominated for the Golden Globe award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (Drama), while Jessie Buckley also earned a nod for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama).
