Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas have reportedly ended their relationship after less than a year together, deciding they are better suited as friends.

The Mission: Impossible star, 63, and the Cuban-born actress, 37, were first linked in February before making their romance public in the spring. The couple were spotted together at several high-profile events throughout the year, but insiders now say the relationship has quietly come to an end.

A source close to the pair said the decision was mutual and amicable. “Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas had a good time together but their time as a couple has run its course,” the insider said. “They just realised they weren’t going to go the distance and that they are better off as mates. The spark had gone between them, but they still love each other’s company and they’ve both been really adult about it.”

Despite parting ways romantically, the two are expected to continue working together. “Ana de Armas has already been cast in Tom Cruise’s next film, so they will continue to work together,” the source added.

The pair were first photographed on dates in the US earlier this year, confirming their relationship when they were seen holding hands during a break in Vermont. In April, Tom Cruise reportedly whisked Ana de Armas away to Madrid on his private jet as their romance blossomed. The couple later celebrated Ana de Armas’ 37th birthday in London, arriving by helicopter and sharing photos from what they described as “a fun night out on the town.”

In May, Ana de Armas accompanied Tom Cruise to David Beckham’s 50th birthday party, and over the summer they were spotted together at an Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium before heading to Spain, where they were seen relaxing on a yacht.

The couple had been preparing to star together in the upcoming supernatural thriller Deeper, which was expected to begin filming in London but has since been put on hold. The two are also attached to another project, provisionally titled Pressure, which would mark another collaboration between Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas if it moves ahead.

Ana de Armas has become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors in recent years. She gained international fame for her role as CIA agent Paloma in the 2021 James Bond film No Time to Die, following breakout performances in Knives Out and Blade Runner 2049. Her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in Netflix’s Blonde earned her an Oscar nomination and cemented her as one of the industry’s most versatile talents.

Before her relationship with Tom Cruise, Ana de Armas was married to Spanish actor Marc Clotet from 2011 to 2013 and later dated Ben Affleck after meeting him on the set of the psychological thriller Deep Water in 2020.

Tom Cruise, meanwhile, remains one of Hollywood’s most recognisable figures, with a career spanning four decades and box-office hits ranging from Top Gun to Mission: Impossible. He has been married three times — to Mimi Rogers (1987–1990), Nicole Kidman (1990–2001), and Katie Holmes (2006–2012).

While the romance between Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas may have fizzled out, those close to them say there’s no bad blood. Both stars are said to remain on friendly terms and focused on their upcoming film commitments.

For now, it seems the mission between the pair has simply reached its natural conclusion.
