Sam Fender has landed his first ever Global No1 single with 'Rein Me In', featuring Olivia Dean.
The single, which you can check out below, featured on the deluxe version of Fender's Mercury Prize winning and chart topping album, People Watching. That album arrived in February last year, selling more than 100,000 copies within its first week of release in the UK.
'Rein Me In' was written by Sam Fender and produced by Adam Granduciel, Markus Dravs, Joe Atkinson, and Dean Thompson. It peaked at number five in the UK charts, as well as earning a nomination for Song of the Year.
On working with Olivia Dean, Sam Fender said: “If I collaborate with another artist on one of my songs, I prefer they write a new part and make it their own, rather than singing whatever I’ve already written".
He added: “Olivia added a female perspective to Rein Me In, and I think it’s all the better for it. Sharing the stage with her over these last few stadium shows has been a joy. I can’t wait for people to have it".
“Rein Me In is my favourite song on Sam’s album, so it was a pleasure to write a new verse from a female perspective. I’ve been a fan of Sam’s for a while now, so I’m so pleased we got to work together on this duet", Olivia Dean said of the collaboration.
At the time of writing, the video for 'Rein Me In', which showed footage of Fender's sold out stadium show, had 8 million views. Check it out below.
In other news, Olivia Dean and Sam Fender will also be going toe to toe at the Brit Awards in the Album of the Year category, with Dean's The Art Of Loving going up against Fender's People Watching, with Lily Allen, Dave and Wolf Alice also earning nods in the same category.
