Gardaí have arrested two teenagers after a garda car was rammed during an incident where a stolen car was driving down the wrong way on the M50 last night.
The Garda car was later rammed along the junction on the M1 and R132 on the M50, before the car was brought to a controlled stop. This comes after the car had been stolen in the Coolock area early on Wednesday morning.
Two teenage boys, believed to be in their late teens, were arrested at the scene.
Speaking about this incident, Gardaí said they responded to it with a "managed containment operation" shortly before 8pm last night, after a "number of dangerous driving episodes. Such episodes include driving against the flow of traffic, and was reported on the M50, as well as other areas, including Whitehall, Finglas and Ballymun. (All quotes according to RTÉ).
One teenager has since been charged and was due to appear before the Dublin Children's Court, while the other was released with a file to be sent to the Youth Diversion Programme.
Gardaí have said that investigations remain ongoing.
News of this comes after Fiosrú, had ruled that Gardaí had "acted appropriately" in their pursuit of a vehicle which was involved in a fatal crash with another car while driving the wrong way on the M9 in Kildare last month.
