A man has been arrested after a woman's body was discovered near an emergency residential premises in Co Galway.
The man, who is believed to be aged in his 30s, is currently receiving medical treatment and held under Section 4 of the Criminal Act 1984, according to a Garda spokesperson.
This was after it was confirmed that a woman was found dead following a fatal accident at an unspecified time on Thursday. The woman's body was found near Galway Road, Clifden in Co Galway. It is believed to be aged in her 30s.
The spokesperson has said that Gardaí are not searching for any other person regarding the incident, as they are “following a definite line of enquiry”.
“The scene has been preserved for an examination by the Garda Technical Bureau,” they added.
“The Offices of the Coroner and the State Pathologist have been notified", they continued. “The body will be removed in due course, and a postmortem examination will be carried out.
“The results of the post-mortem examination will assist in determining the course of the ongoing investigation".
