During Capaldi's 2023 Glastonbury performance, he was forced to end his set early as he was suffering from tics caused by his Tourette's. Following this performance, he decided to take a break to focus on his health. At the time he stated that he was still trying to adjust to the impact Tourettes was having on him and that cancelling his tour was the "toughest decision" of his life as he had to cancel the tour that he had scheduled for that year.
Capaldi explained the situation on Hits Radio, saying that Elton John was the first person to reach out to him after his Glastonbuty set in 2023. "The day after Glastonbury Elton phoned and said it was wise to take a break. I knew he had my email but I didn't know he had my number so he must have for it from management or something," he said.
Capaldi also praised his friend Niall Horan for consistently supporting him, "Niall Horan obviously. I’m in group chats with him, so I speak with him quite a lot,” he said.
During Capaldi's hiatus, several celebrities came out to say that they have checked in with the singer who was struggling with Tourettes and his mental health. However now, he has confirmed that this was entirely untrue.
Capaldi returned to the stage at this years Glastonbury festival, he described the Glastonbury 2025 set as "the best day of my life." Read more on Classic Hits here.
Shortly after his Glastonbury set he announced a UK and Ireland tour that is set to kick off in Sheffield on September 7th and ending in Dublin on September 29th. Although tickets are already sold out, as dedicated fans snatched up the tickets within seconds of them going on sale.
