Mariah Carey has admitted that she is not a fan of other artists covering her songs.
The singer made these comments while speaking to GQ magazine, after she was asked to give her opinion to Muni Long's rendition of her hit, We Belong Together at this year's iHeart Music Awards.
Carey who was honoured as an industry icon at the event, did appear to be somewhat uncomfortable during this tribute performance.
"I didn't even hear the cover," stated Carey. "I didn't know it happened. No one told me. I just didn't know that she had done We Belong Together 'cause her song was so similar. I had no idea that she did We Belong Together".
"I'm very honoured and flattered that she did it. I love Muni Long, she's a great person, umm, but I just don't like people doing my songs".
Mariah Carey also went on tell a story which saw Prince once tell her that he did not like it when other singers covered his tracks, including her version of his hit, The Beautiful Ones.
"I love The Beautiful Ones so much," she said. "And I remember Prince, he didn't like people to redo his songs. He said to me, 'I love Honey, though.' It's like, 'Prince likes Honey!' "But about The Beautiful Ones, he said he didn't like it when people did covers of his songs".
Earlier this month, Carey announced plans to perform on a floating stage at the Amazon Rainforest. More on this here.
