Former One Direction members Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik are set to reunite for a highly anticipated Netflix road trip documentary. The project, secured through a multi-million-pound deal, will follow the duo as they travel across the United States, reflecting on their time in the iconic boy band, their solo careers, and the legacy of One Direction. This marks the first time since 2016 that Louis and Zayn have collaborated on a major project.
One Direction was formed in 2010 on the UK talent show The X Factor and quickly became one of the world’s biggest pop acts. With their debut single What Makes You Beautiful and album Up All Night, they captured global attention. Over the next six years, the band released five studio albums, sold over 70 million records worldwide, and performed to millions in stadiums and arenas around the globe, including Wembley Stadium, Madison Square Garden, and Croke Park in Dublin. Their music earned multiple awards, including Brit Awards, American Music Awards, and MTV Video Music Awards, cementing them as one of the most successful boy bands in history.
The Netflix documentary promises an intimate look at Louis and Zayn’s lives as they revisit their shared history, discuss their personal and professional journeys, and reflect on the highs and lows of being part of such a global phenomenon. Filming is underway, and the series is expected to premiere in 2026, aligning with the 10th anniversary of One Direction’s split.
Fans are particularly excited because this is the first major reunion of the two since Zayn left the band in 2015 and Louis pursued solo projects. Their solo careers have seen chart-topping singles, sold-out tours, and devoted fan followings, but the documentary gives fans a chance to see them together again, reminiscing about the moments that made One Direction legendary. With strong ties to the U.S.—Louis co-parents his son there, and Zayn has lived in Pennsylvania since 2018—the road trip will offer both personal insight and nostalgic memories of the band that took the world by storm.
