U2 have announced the first dates of a major world tour for 2027, with Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. preparing to return to stadiums across the globe.

The Irish band will begin the The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour in Mexico City on February 23, before travelling to São Paulo in Brazil and Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Beck will join U2 as special guest for the announced Latin American dates, with further shows in Europe and North America expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The tour marks U2's return to stadium performances for the first time since their The Joshua Tree Tour finished in Mumbai in December 2019. That tour saw the band perform for almost three million fans worldwide.

The newly announced dates include two concerts in Mexico City on February 23 and 26, followed by shows in São Paulo on March 10 and 12. The band will then play Buenos Aires on March 23 and 25.

The tour announcement comes with the release of a new track titled ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’. Co-written by U2 and Brian Eno, it is the third single to be taken from Carnaval De Luz.

A story of lovers fighting to keep faith in each other - and faith itself.  The video is directed by Anton Corbijn and was shot in the Californian desert; it satirizes the band as a religious cult where women do all the heavy lifting.

The band have described the tour as an opportunity to create a major live spectacle, combining striking visuals, powerful instrumentation and songs spanning their extensive back catalogue.

U2 recently celebrated their 50th anniversary returning to Mount Temple School, Dublin, Ireland - the very place U2 was born - alongside a surprise performance on Dublin's Grafton Street on September 25.

Their new album will be their sixteenth studio release and first collection of new material in nine years. The 12-track record features collaborations with Brian Eno, Martin Garrix and Daniel Lanois, as well as a duet with Dolly Parton on Torn.

Tickets for the announced Latin American shows will first be available through the U2.com subscriber presale from Monday, October 19, at 10am local time. Any remaining tickets will go on general sale from Thursday, October 22, at 10am local time via U2.com.

Irish fans will have to wait for further details of the band's European dates, which are expected to be announced soon.
