Netflix has unveiled the first images from its upcoming adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, featuring Tipperary actor Daryl McCormack as Mr Bingley.
The six-part limited series will arrive on Netflix on 3 December, with the first-look images revealed at the Jane Austen Festival in Bath, in the UK.

McCormack, who is from Nenagh, County Tipperary, stars alongside Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden as Mr Darcy.
The cast also includes Olivia Colman as Mrs Bennet, Rufus Sewell as Mr Bennet, Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Jamie Demetriou as Mr Collins, Louis Partridge as Mr Wickham, Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet, Hopey Parish as Mary Bennet and Hollie Avery as Kitty Bennet.

The new series is based on Jane Austen’s much-loved 1813 novel and has been written by Dolly Alderton, best known for Everything I Know About Love.
The series will follow the five Bennet sisters as they navigate love, family and the expectations placed on them by society.
Jane Bennet falls for the charming Mr Bingley, played by McCormack, while her sister Elizabeth finds herself at odds with Bingley’s proud friend, Mr Darcy.

As the story unfolds, unexpected encounters and family scandals force Elizabeth to reconsider her feelings and discover more about love.
Netflix describes the series as a faithful, classic adaptation of Austen’s novel.
Emma Corrin, who plays Elizabeth Bennet, has spoken about her connection to the character.
Writing on the Netflix UK Substack, Corrin said: “Like most people, I fell in love with Elizabeth when I first read Pride and Prejudice in my teens, and have spent the years since navigating situations wondering… well, what would Lizzy do?”

She also praised Alderton’s adaptation and said it brings new elements to the story while highlighting some of the parts audiences have loved for generations.
Corrin wrote: “Her adaptation has made me see this story for the first time not only as the love story that ultimately raised the romantic bar for all of us, but also as a love letter to sisterhood and family.”

The series is directed by Euros Lyn, who has previously worked on Heartstopper, with Alderton also serving as an executive producer alongside Lyn and Corrin.

Daryl McCormack has previously appeared in films and TV series including Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, Peaky Blinders and Bad Sisters.
Now, the Tipperary actor is taking on one of the best-known characters in Austen’s story as the new Netflix adaptation prepares to introduce Pride and Prejudice to a new generation of viewers.
The six-part series will premiere on Netflix on 3 December.
