Following an investigation of a private home on Cork's southside, the team at the Cork Supernatural Society have shared a somewhat spooky and eerie report which you could be forgiven for mistaking for a Hollywood script.
The society of paranormal lovers based in Cork City, have said that the family who had been living at the house, have encountered their fair share of strange occurrences over the last 30 years, but things have particularly ramped up over the last year.
Such strange incidents have included footsteps running up and down the stairs in the middle of the night, lights flicking on, keys disappearing, doors slamming and chairs literally moving on their own, a house full of ghostly energy.
It also emerged that 20 years ago, a family member had been eating dinner, before catching site of a young girl standing near a door, slightly ajar, before the same figure was spotted again on the stairs 28 years later.
Along the ground-floor side room, rooms would remain ice cold even with the heating on full blast. People who have slept in the side room report sleep paralysis and watching objects moving on their own.
In the end, what tipped them over the edge and made them inform the experts was finding an unexplained, tiny child's footprint which was pressed into a pouf's in the living room one morning, a footprint which was far smaller than any of the residents of the house.
Investigators of the society Matt and Bernie arrived at the home to conduct an EVP aka an Electronic Voice Phenomena session, where they discovered one bizarre detail, no clock had ever worked in the kitchen.
It turned out that every single clock in that kitchen would die, despite a myriad of fresh batteries being bought over the years, with the family eventually giving up on putting clocks in the room.
One of the investigators bought a working pocket watch into the kitchen, which ticked along nicely for about 20 minutes.
However, it was discovered that the pocket watch had completely stopped after an REM-Pod (an instrument used to detect electromagnetic field shifts) went off in the hallway.
It was also found that the watch later began ticking when an investigator brought the watch back to their own home, like nothing had happened.
On this, the CSS said: “This really was a weird incident and not something we have ever come across or heard about before in our 13 years in the field".
At present, the society are looking through all audio recordings and video footage from the night in question, with an update on their social media expected any time soon. (All quotes according to Yay Cork.ie).
